But bigger. And much more vicious. Every year, new reports telling similar stories rear their ugly head, with headlines shrieking warnings about gulls terrorising people, particularly in the soft underbelly of the British Isles. Green Notes at Montreal International Jazz Festival

The Montreal International Jazz Festival – the largest of its kind in the world – has just pulled the curtain down on its annual mix of music and visitors from all over the globe. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, this year there was something extra-special about the Jazz Fest. Not only were the jazz notes as blue as the deep sea, but the festival adopted a green ethos that matched the lushness of many of the city’s spaces.

Incredible Shadow Art Created From Junk

British born and based artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster skilfully skirt the boundaries between beauty and the shadowier aspects of humanity, playing with our perceptions as well as our notions of taste. Many of their most notable pieces are made from piles of rubbish, with light projected against them to create a shadow image entirely different to that seen when looking directly at the deliberately disguised pile.

It’s an unfortunate but necessary evil that trash has to lay littering the streets until collection. It’s not clean and it’s not pretty. Well, it wasn’t until artist Adrian Kondratowicz collaborated with Renee Mlynaryk to design and produce a range of colorful trash bags which have decorated the streets of New York since May this year.
