Driven by the wind, waves are the chariot horses of the open seas, some of them galloping thousands of miles before they are brought to a halt, breaking as they reach land. These surfers' steeds are found in all sizes, from colt-like ripples to colossal rogue waves, but rarely are they seen from beneath, and rarer still is the commotion they conjure below the ocean's surface captured in all its beauty on camera.

A scuba canoe trundles along the seabed like something out of the Wacky Races, while above the water's surface a modern day surfer cuts back smoothly off the top of a wave. It's a surreal concept, it's true, and yet as art and photography it's genius. This is just one of the incredible series of 'Dopamine' underwater art installations from surf/street/skate label Insight51, featuring the combined creative handiwork of Steve Gorrow and photographer Dustin Humphrey.
