The Most Terrifying Spiral Staircases on Earth

Apart from making you dizzy, spiral staircases are not for the faint of heart as this post will show. They are often in lofty places or the opposite, cramped dungeons, so mastering a spiral staircase is not a question of simply walking up or down. Claustrophobia, vertigo-inducing views and stomach-churning heights will have to be braved because of those adventurous minds that installed spiral staircases in the scariest of places.

The Lighthouse Devoured by Sand [PICS]

Poking its red head up through the shifting sands of Denmark’s weathered coast is the most useless lighthouse in the world. The Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse sits 60 meters above sea level on top of Lønstrup Klint on the edge of the North Sea, and is just about visible to those on land by day, never mind passing ships in the night.
