Mindblowing Art Installations Beneath the Waves

A scuba canoe trundles along the seabed like something out of the Wacky Races, while above the water's surface a modern day surfer cuts back smoothly off the top of a wave. It's a surreal concept, it's true, and yet as art and photography it's genius. This is just one of the incredible series of 'Dopamine' underwater art installations from surf/street/skate label Insight51, featuring the combined creative handiwork of Steve Gorrow and photographer Dustin Humphrey.

Guerilla-Style Street Art by LuzInterruptus

If you were in Madrid, Spain just before Christmas you may have noticed some very odd looking street lamps. As part of the Luz Interruptus (Red) Project, 26 street lights on Calle del Pez were subjected to street art guerrilla tactics. Spanish designers LuzInterruptus set up a temporary lighting installation using domestic square, frilly lampshades, which they taped to existing lights.

Garbage Transformed into Incredible Green Art Installation

It’s an unfortunate but necessary evil that trash has to lay littering the streets until collection. It’s not clean and it’s not pretty. Well, it wasn’t until artist Adrian Kondratowicz collaborated with Renee Mlynaryk to design and produce a range of colorful trash bags which have decorated the streets of New York since May this year.

Giant Poo Goes On Rampage in Swiss Capital

Entitled ‘Complex Shit’, the sculpture by American artist Paul McCarthy worked loose of its bindings at the Paul Klee Centre in Berne. The piece of art had an inbuilt safety device meant to kick in at such times but if failed to operate. Instead the great big poo was lifted by a sudden gust of wind and carried over 200 yards before getting intertwined in the power lines.

Unusual Urban Farm Appears in New York City Center

In June this year, the creative team set up an urban farm, called Public Farm One, in the heart of New York. Large cardboard tubes were joined together to produce one large formation and suspended above a communal courtyard. The tubes were then filled with soil and fruit, vegetables and plants were grown to recreate a temporary nursery.
