Did Gm deserve the bailout? You Ask me I would say NO.. why? When Honda and Toyota were out inventing new cars, GM was busy boasting about its pride and Showing off its hungry hungry Daughter the Hummer

An interesting view of the automotive industry. Where do you see the future of the industry, will it ever recover or will there be major casulties?

SUV's are not really dieing they are being "remarketed" as the "crossover". Look at the Toyota Venza. Yes gas prices are part of the picture, but it's really just marketing. Americans love the SUV, makes them feel big and powerful.

My Minivan has more cargo space than a GMC Suburban, rides better, and gets better mileage. It's sad but it's really about image and not purpose. My full size van is much much larger inside than a Surburban and gets the same mileage.

The crossover is todays "station wagon".

I know this post is about 6 months old now and gas has dropped about half from it's peak, and even with the economy failing people are still plodding along in their giant SUV's. And the real kicker is I almost never see more than 1 occupant. So why does a person need 6,000lbs of metal to take themselves to the grocery store?

Crazy. But the real problem is simply a society that EXPECTS consumption of the Earths resources can go on forever.
