Graffiti has been considered an outlet for teens to express frustrations for the past few decades. Churches have been providing walls to for teens to "vent" on, and local establishments have been encouraging graffiti murals as advertisements for their stores.

The graffiti that is popping up throughout the Florida Keys has a somewhat different connotation; the example above expresses anger and hatred towards BP (the company that has 65% interest in the rig) as we approach the 40th day of the oil gusher from the Deep Horizon rig.

The acts of vandalism may be in response to reports of tar balls washing up on the shores throughout the Florida Keys, but the Coast Guard has stated that these tar balls are not linked to the Deep Horizon rig. The picture was taken in Key West on Saturday, May 22nd and its canvas was the entrance to a construction site. Sadly, the art was painted over on the following day.
