We’ve been doing a lot of blog reading lately, and we’ve decided to make a list of the top 10 environmental blogs online. We know there have already been a few, notably from readwriteweb and doshdosh, however, we have taken more of a scientific approach to our top 10. Interesting list! i subscribe to 5 of them already, i’m not sure i would be so democratic and call the most popular the best though. not that i’m a subjectivist but i would go by post quality, % of good quality posts and maybe even throw in ‘most likely to have positive environmental impact’. how a comparison could be formulated, i dont know. my personal list would probably have – Celsias.com :: Environmental Graffiti :: Inhabitat/JetsonGreen :: Monbiot :: ecogeek. something like that anyway, they all understand the limits of consumerism and dont throw out hogwash articles like ‘is bush a closet green’. they are politically astute and/or show expertise in their field. Interesting though, or as one may say in oxford ‘jolly good show’.

You totally forgot to list http://www.greenbang.com on there. Young, but full of amazing green news and they update so many times a day.

I see they often reference other sites such as Ecogeek and treehugger too. Anywho, one for the list? :)

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Fingers crossed for next year!!!!!

    Very interesting list.

If the economics don’t work, recycling and sustainable efforts won’t either.
Check http://LivePaths.com a blog about innovative entrepreneurs that make money selling recycled items, provide green services or help us reduce our dependency on non renewable resources. These include some very cool Green online ventures, great new technologies, startups and investments opportunities.

Please, have a look to Natura – Medio Ambiental in http://sine-die.blogspot.com/. An spanish blog about ecology and climate change.

  10. Peripatetic - the Alaska Wanderer Says:

Thanks so much for compiling the list. I have to say, a few of them are a bit disappointing, EcoStreet, in particular, with the barrage of adverts that litters the site. I couldn’t find the posts on that site! At least their keeping it out of the direct mail and therefore, landfill, process. Still, I appreciated the links to some sites I’d not yet seen. I would lean a little more toward content in terms of ranking, but since you folks did the homework, I can’t complain :)

Great list of blogs – I will be adding links to them on my “High Cascades Environmental Photography” blog which offers controversial issues/opinions on environmental issues along with accompanying photographs.

Although, I would have added a few different blogs to this list, it is a good start to some of the more researched topics on the web. One I enjoy (and check with often) deals primarily with controversial environmental issues in Alaska – http://www.finebergresearch.com

Where is Don’t Be a Dick dot Org on this list? Environmental Graffiti skipped over one of my favorite Eco friendly sites :(
