You know, parthenogenesis in vertebrates isn’t as rare as you might think – what’s cool here is that the first one recorded was a bonnethead shark, and the white-tip reef is an a different taxonomic group. That would suggest that many other sharks, or even all, have the ability to reproduce this way…it’s already in lizards. It really makes you wonder what’s next.
