Surfing and sharks don’t mix. If you’ve ever seen the underbelly of a surfer lying on their board they make fantastic fish fodder but if a surfer gets bitten there’s a massive furore and a witch hunt for the toothy perpetrator.

But some surfers know that the odds of getting mistaken for a tasty treat come with the territory. If you choose to spend hours in the ocean – home to all things sharky – chances are you might come face to face, or rather leg to jaw, with one of the finned creatures.

So, what exactly was this guy thinking?

Does he realize how stupid that was? I mean, it’s one thing to increase the danger to his own life, but what about the other surfers in that water? What a moron.

That said, i hate to say it, that was pretty cool.

  3. Alex L. Says:

Not so impressive when the shark is fake, and the acting is as bad as it was in the video.

  4. Geoff Says:

If only it were real. The shark fin doesn’t look real and based on the ending, I was say that in order for this to be real, the shark would have beached itself because the line is being pulled towards shore when he lets go of it and rides a small way in.

  9. Bob Cornero Says:

Pretty sure this is fake. I saw it a while ago, but if you look closely, there is a wake on the shark. Ever see a shark leave a wake?

    Well done, but fake!
You can see the churned up water from the boat that is really towing him in front of the sharks fin.

  12. Anon Says:

Wow, This is so fake. Funny but fake.

  13. dbcn Says:

why is that shark going slowly and in a straight line?

  14. Rich Hudson Says:

Too bad that when he’s a mumbling old man (assuming he lives that long) no one will believe his story.

  15. Richard Says:

What a SELF-CENTERED jerk!!! Exactly how is the shark suppose to hunt & survive pulling around that hook, line and rod? Sharks are an endangered species; unfortunately a–holes like that surfer are not.
