Every Russian Police Station to Get a Resident Hypnotist

After last week’s report that the Russian government was financing research on “psionic weapons” so that it could turn enemy soldiers into zombies, I was keen to see what the other shoe falling would be. Apparently, it’s the use of hypnosis in solving crimes, and the hiring of a psychic at every police station.

The psychics and hypnotists, who are going to be technically known as “memory activation specialists” and “hypnotic impact specialists” lack, for obvious reasons, a canon of empirical evidence to support their hiring. They do however, have a fairly compelling (at least to the powers that be within the police forces of Russia) amount of anecdotal evidence, which naysayers like most of the western world would discount to the power of suggestion. From Pravda:

The specialist told the woman that he once helped his client to recollect the number of the taxi, where he left his brief case. Lekanov didn’t help but exclaimed ‘Eureka!’ and started to use Kucherenko’s abilities in the police court.

It doesn’t exactly strike me as airtight proof that this gentleman is putting off a great aura of psychic energy, but then again he’s about to start getting his bills paid for doing exactly that, so I may not be in a position to argue.
