An anonymous graffiti artist has been attacking London advertisements, with a signature graffiti style. He or she has been gorily removing heads from well known advertisements such as this year’s blockbuster movie "Sex and the City" the movie.

Kissing couples, beautiful models and aspiring celebs have all come under ‘the East London decapitator’s’ knife; their beautiful heads replaced by bony, blood drenched stumps. His artworks are defined by the media as culture jamming or sub-vertising, which Wikipedia describes as, ‘the practice of making spoofs or parodies of corporate and political advertisements in order to make a statement," thus their appearance has been predominantly on fashion and film posters such as the recently tagged Uniqlo t-shirt campaign.

Many believe that the works are a ‘head’ start on tackling the visual bombardment of adverts that Londoners recieve each day, Cities such as Sao Paolo, Brazil have already completely banned billboards in a campaign for a ‘New Clean City’ as a reaction against what many saw as outdoor advertising going too far.

I think the vandal is taking the heads off of "Barbies," hence the ball joint. The problem is that he just adds violence to the objectification of women. Neither are really messages we should be praising. That is why I called him a vandal and not an artist.
And I wouldn't dare compare him to Bansky...It's lacking the social commentary. The idea isn't fresh either. This is a prevalent theme in our modern culture.

AllenWalkerRC (not verified) says:
great attention to detail and quality, the creativity and the balls to pull it off. i respect him as a fellow artist even though it isnt in my taste...

emma (not verified) says:
why is the artists initially referred to as he/she and then as he?

This is obviously more international criminality by George Bush.

Old Joke: Headless Engineer
A priest, a shaman, and an engineer were caught up in a military revolt in a hostile small nation. The revolt was suppressed by the dictator who summarily sentenced the three to death by the guillotine.
The priest was chosen to be beheaded first. He asked that he lie face up so that he could look to the heavens and to God when he was beheaded. The executioner raised the guillotine blade as high as it went and then let go. The blade stopped a few inches from the priest's neck. The dictator's guards believed that this was an omen from God, and let the priest go free.
The shaman asked that he be beheaded face down, so that he could see mother earth when he was beheaded. The executioner raised the blade as high as it went and then let go. The blade stopped a few inches from his neck. The dictator's guards believed that this was an omen from Mother Earth, and let the shaman go free.
When it came time for the engineer to be beheaded, he said to the executioner, "I believe that I could help you with the problem of that dysfunctional blade. I have been observing and think that if you use a little oil and don't pull the blade all the way to the top it would work better."

Decapitator? More like de-crap-itator.

Kimberly Reynolds (not verified) says:
at first i was confused because it was the wrong bones sticking out- them bones ain't neck bones!! otherwise great art but too bad they don't look realistic most especially the sarah jessica parker one!LMAO i want it framed!

Jadey (not verified) says:
My friend first told me about these in art the other day. The concept intregued me, and now that I've seen it; I'm completly not sure about it. I love it and hate it.
I love it because the artist has done something really original. I haven't seen anything like this before, and it's interesting and new. It shocks you and makes you think, and to me that's what art is all about. Making you think.
I hate it because it's fairly repulsive, and could shock or cause trauma to (especially young) people. It's repulsive to look at, and if the artist was going for an anatomicly (you know what I mean) correct piece, he fucked it up badly. But as I've read, in the comments before mine, that the artist gets what he's doing, and doesn't intend on making it gory by using correct joints etc.
And what was with the Muslim comment earlier?! Nae need. Just keep racism out of art please you pathetic people.
And what's with all this "Oh that'll show Banksy!!" Grow up. Did Banksy ever say there was anything wrong with this person's artwork? No, he didn't.
Anonymus graffiti isn't vandalism. It's expressionate.
Mindless tagging is fucking vandalism. And fucking pointless.

Dominique (not verified) says:
Oh awesome! The greatest graffiti I've seen in a while! I love how he (or she) chooses a Paris Hiltonesque girl to play the corpse! Beautiful!

sic_ninja (not verified) says:
oh man this is awesome. taking street art to a whole new level.

E. Michael Martin (not verified) says:
today, everything is “art”. even a flower sticked on a turd.
I disagree. I mean, it could be art, but it's the message that it portrays that makes it art.
That's why pornography is not art. It is not expressing anything about society.

Ye Gads! This guy should be looked into. That's one sick puppy

god(zilla) complex (not verified) says:
finally something new in the world of vandalism art. take that, banksy.

KEARGLE (not verified) says:
to the people debating about the bone being incorrect;
that's obviously done on purpose. This guy has graffiti instinct... the bone is his trademark, or his signature if you will.
it's just one of those things. most of you wouldn't understand it.

KEARGLE (not verified) says:
also... the definition of art is a form of communication.
so i'd say this is art in it's most literal form.

slashninja (not verified) says:
brilliant.
do you know who else loves to cut off heads ?

John Painz (not verified) says:
This is so awesome, what a great job he did on these... especially the sex and the city piece!

emender (not verified) says:
Wonder why it's only the women who are being decapitated.
At least, in the pics shown here.

Chaos Motor (not verified) says:
This guy needs to brush up on anatomy, he's putting a ball joint in people's necks. The resulting effect is that someone has a thigh growing out their neck that has been neatly trimmed at the hip. He should be using a trachea and spinal column.

mike (not verified) says:
oh man this is awesome. taking street art to a whole new level.
yeah, to the criminal retarded level.

Gary (not verified) says:
Hey Decaptator your work is amazing!
Come up to Glasgow and chop some heads!

That's right. Fascism is always the way to handle someone who chooses to creatively express themselves in a manner that some find offensive.

Justin Hernandez (not verified) says:
Yikes, I feel sorry for the kids who see that.

Not so (not verified) says:
If it turned out the vandal were a Muslim, would you still think it's so damn clever? I doubt it.

dr. science (not verified) says:
I'm completely in support of the graffiti, but the artist may want to brush up on his/her basic anatomy. That looks to be the end of a femur sticking out of those necks!

Ham (not verified) says:
Erm... what does it matter that it isn't 'anatomically' correct. Don't understand get all frothed up about shit like that... it's artistic license surely - you could put a toothbrush coming out of the stumped up neck. Fucking anally retentive arseholes. Oh! and I think I saw one in Shoredtich. Could be completely wrong though.

NZYK (not verified) says:
Fuck London. City went to shit years ago.

Erin (not verified) says:
Uh, as far as I can see all the figures the artist decapitates are women...sinister or art? Or both?

muah (not verified) says:
If it turned out the vandal were a Muslim, would you still think it’s so damn clever? I doubt it.
You are a fucking retard

Debbie Morgan (not verified) says:
Haven't caught the artist yet? Sounds like some hidden cameras around London would help. The ones on my site can be hidden in almost anything and are perfect for the do-it-yourself spys amongst us.

urdumb (not verified) says:
for people who says this is vandalism, i hope your house gets vandalized proper so you could know what the hell you are talking about. I call all those advertisements of anorexic girls all over the place tasteless vandalism, and ugly gray walls where there should be some grass and tress vandalism.... bigots.

Tamara (not verified) says:
brilliant.
do you know who else loves to cut off heads ?
I'm curious; WHO?

Joshua (not verified) says:
Great art uplifts the spirit. This is not art, art doesn't include everything "creative". Yes it is a creation but it is depictions of destruction. I hate this crap.

Jr. (not verified) says:
though i don't agree with the artist's chosen point of reference, i do enjoy the artistic ability and the message it was intended to send.

stuart rankin (not verified) says:
love it - just what the world needs - who gives a shit if the anatomy aint right - you are missing the point. great way of shaking things up. all in favour of graffiti. well done headless horseman, whoever u are.
:)
if only the ad agencies had this kind of courage

justice (not verified) says:
If it turned out the vandal were a Muslim, would you still think it’s so damn clever? I doubt it.
racist much?

khiadem jackiechand (not verified) says:
that s horrible to see. who did all those stupid stuffs?

Obeah (not verified) says:
Yeah, if only there were some cameras around London.
There's so many cameras in London the average citizen is caught on video 300 times a day.

Scott (not verified) says:
Huge respect. Puts banky's recent toss into perspective.

Sick (not verified) says:
This is sick! I am offended and I believe that anyone who sees this will be offended. They need to have a law which stops this kind of filth! What's next, headless pets?!

hatertards (not verified) says:
HAHAHA, some of the comments to this image are so retarded, i am not surprised the earth is in the shape it is in now.
This not only is art, but it's one of the best pieces of art i've seen for quite a while. Advertisements are a form of brainwashing, just like TV is, i hope to see this same "vandalism" in TV too, pretty soon.
About kids seeing this: do you really think this is worst than the nudity on most ads. Seriously, how does an almost completely naked woman relate to chewing-gum, or coke, or whatever.
THINKTHINKTHINK, or else we're doomed!
