Here’s a question that’s caused some debate in the office. Would you put your precious behind on something that looks like it might send spines up your bottom – a cactus to be precise? Would you ask friends and family to sit on it? Apparently, cactus-inspired furniture is not rare, and succulent-inspired accessories are, in fact, all the rage. See for yourself if you don’t believe us…
This red cactus-inspired armchair and ottoman is Xiang Yun’s contribution to the China Chair Project, an exhibition on “Functional Contemporary Chinese Sculpture” that started in Florida and will move to London next.

The freakily real green cactus-sofa above was used for an AXN-ad with the tagline “Relax if you can.” That explains why it looks so real: it must be photoshopped. What do you think? We spotted it on Neatorama first, and Designboom has dug out a whole range of cactus-inspired designs including furniture, apartment buildings, toys and toilet brushes. Hmm, that brings us to where we started: the strange attraction between cacti and buttocks…

ooo i love it. i have a chair fetish as it is! Eammes chairs will cost you a couple of grand or much more (originals), but these are unique. But can u invest in them…gonna have to research cactus life expectancy. :)
