I am reminded of the time PETA was pushing their "Stop fishing campaign" they were saying that fishing was cruel because it caused so much pain to the fish. Problem is fish don't have pain receptors so though they can feel tactile (touch) and pressure, they don't feel the pain from the hook or the smack in the head from my trusty gaff.

PETA like so many others out there forget that we people are animals too. The main problem with the human animal is that we have forgotten to follow natures natural rules of survival of the fittest, we keep saving our weak, sick, malformed and insane. Stupid people are supposed to do stupid things that kill themselves. That is how our species evolves and become better. Saving the bad apples only allows them to propagate more bad apples.

PETA is such a joke. I don't know what the magic number is, but it seems like people (individually) are smart, but as soon as you reach the magic number of people, the intellect level drops exponentially ...two good examples would be: religions and politics. PETA is no exception. WATCH PENN AND TELLER'S BULLSHIT about PETA!!!!

Life feeds on life. Broccoli is alive too. At least the cows can run away. Besides, if we weren't supposed to eat meat, we wouldn't have incisors and canine teeth.

We need food that is free from parasites and disease. If synthetic food that resembles meat is possible, economically feasible and it means we no longer kill living things to get it, good for science. Some allergies and cholesterol problems could be resolved also. If so, I would be able to eat steak again, synthetic, perhaps, but steak non the less. Got any Beefs?

Actually, there has already been headway in this area. In 2005, researchers reported a technique that could possibly lead to industrial-scale production. See this site: http://www.newsdesk.umd.edu/scitech/release.cfm?ArticleID=1098

<blockquote>Have you ever considered the possibility that PETA wants people to fail? What better way to try and brainwash the masses that vegan is the only way to go than to show that lab-created meat cannot exist and that meat is synonymous with suffering?
In short, the close time-frame is not a mistake.
