You may remember we recently published an article about what London would look like after a flood of epic proportions . But have you ever wondered what the world would look like after Armageddon? Everyone has their own ideas – chaos, hell, fire and brimstone or an eerie calm where, finally, you’d be able to grab a few minutes of peace and quiet!

Japanese graphic arts collective, Tokyo Fantasy, have created these amazing images of what they think an overgrown post-apocalyptic Tokyo will look like, should the worst happen. We’re sure you’ll agree they’re absolutely awesome.

Linda is a writer and editor, currently based in London. Growing up in N Ireland, she craved sunnier climes so set off around the world, forever chasing the sun. On her travels she discovered she was much more passionate about the environment than she realised – although never quite got the whole tree-hugging thing – and has always had a penchant for the unconventional and creative side of life, so working at Environmental Graffiti suits her just fine.

    Looks a lil like the opening scene in I am Legend huh?

  2. Budda Magoo Says:

    This is somewhat insensitive, given that Tuesday was the anniversary marking the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At any other time, it wold have been more interesting.

    @Budda Magoo:

    Oh come off it. Have you actually ever been to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum? My guess is you haven’t. My guess is you’ve never even spoken to anyone who is Japanese in regards to the bombings that took place, let alone anyone Japanese that was alive during that time. Lemme drop a knowledge bomb for ya then–they’ve gotten over it. They see it now as an unfortunate, but necessary event in order to stop their expansion to the West. So get off your P.C. high horse already. Besides, we’re talking about ARTWORK regarding a hypothetical flood, not bombing the hell out of them again. There really isn’t anything insensitive in that, moron.

    I gotta agree with Ben. I’ve been to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and I think the people in Hiroshima have gotten over it. For some reason, I had a ill preconceived notion that Hiroshima was still going to be some old fashioned city from the 1940s. But it’s not. It’s quite modern and so are the people, probably even more so than people from Tokyo, Kyoto (except Gion), and Osaka… well, maybe not Osaka haha.

  5. Nick Says:

    Ben…nicely put.

  6. David Bryden Says:

    Have the people in Nagasaki “gotten over it”?
    Where “it” was “testing a different design of bomb, quickly, before they surrender!”

  7. KwazyQuacker Says:

    Insensitive? Give me a break.

  8. uchimizu Says:

    the people who wrote those pictures are japanese themselves. And moreover, this apocalypse has left the buildings almost intact, so it is certainly not created by a A-Bomb or H-Bomb. I think Hiroshima is off-topic.

    Really nice pictures by the way
