I am thorughly impressed by these pictures depicting the slums around the world. In Mumbai, Dharavi is the biggest slum in Asia. I have have worked there in my earler days.It is really nauseating but people live in abject poverty & apathy from the govt.Few years on this is likelyto change. Fear the the wort at present & hope for the best.

Yes, terrific pictures of horrific scenes. I am throwing myself into a campaign to raise consciousness in the USA of the plight of so many. We live in a world where 9.7 million children die each year before they reach their fifth birthday. These children should live. We CAN, we Will end poverty. Thanks for your work.

Slums should be rehabilitated outside cities with architects who have cared for the masses. Only point is the transportation services need improvement.

Very touching and heartbreaking. Great post. I live in Jakarta so I often see for myself this endless loop of poverty that happens. The villagers come to Jakarta expecting to find work and a better life. A few are lucky enough to be able to do that (work) and earn a living. Most ended up in the slums…
