That's an amazing story. I love how they talk about pearl necklaces being given to someone of distinction. 40 days! Wow!

Wow - brilliant! Hey, it may not be quite the same, but back along when I used to work for a 'care in the community' scheme, one chap I visited had been buried beneath a great quantity of earth following an explosion. He survived (well, heh, you kinda guessed that,) but with a great deal of mental problems following the distress of being buried. Couldn't bear to be in confined spaces. Hmm, not that surprising, I guess.

Thanks for your comments, guys.
@Singh
Yeah, I know that nowadays Singh is the correct selling but the quote is taken directly from a newspaper article from the year 1880, when many things were spelt differently, and so it was left in its original form. Sure, not so long ago our Ss used to be Fs in written English and even today Arabic names are always being spelt wrong. As with many things a definitive spelling will soon be bestowed on them. Offense is never the goal, nor should it be taken that way.
Glad you liked the article, though :-)

Interesting article. I would like to point out that the name of the Maharaja is misspelled. The last name is 'Singh' and not 'Sing'. It is a name shared by all Sikh people including me. And a lot of people would find that spelling offensive.
