If you’re a fan of Hanna Barbera or Walt Disney, you’ll love these skeletal images of your favourite crazy cartoon characters, sans powder and paint.

Showcasing at Basel’s Natural History Museum in Switzerland, the exhibition is the brainchild of South Korean artist Hyungkoo Lee. Using the same techniques as paleontologists, he created scarily accurate bone structures of familiar cartoon icons.

The anthropomorphic skeletal sculptures are remarkably realistic and are emblazoned with their specific scientific name – Wile E Coyote is Canis Latrans Animatus, Roadrunner is Geococcyx Animatus and Bugs Bunny is known as Lepus Animatus.

Originally created for the Korean Pavilion of the 2007 Venice Biennale, each creation was drawn meticulously before being constructed from resin casts in the artist’s studio, Seoul, Korea.
