Taming Your Shadow
Just do it:

Separating from one’s shadow is an art no one has mastered yet. Many may have tried and gone mad over it. For most of us, it’s all fun and games, some horsing around, sometimes with astonishing, sometimes with a bit naughty results. Creativity knows no bounds when playing with your shadow but be on your guard or instead of taming it, your shadow might tame you!

Sometimes, shadows seem to take on a life of their own, merely bending their owners to their will.

A bit cryptically, the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary defines a shadow as “partial darkness or obscurity within a part of space from which rays from a source of light are cut off by an interposed opaque body.” One could also say that a shadow is simply the result of an object obstructing direct light from a light source.

Interestingly, a shadow is also defined as an “inseparable companion or follower.” We are very much in favour of this definition and would like to add that it’s the one companion who’s always there for us and whom we can have a lot of fun with.

Other shadows though are more sinister and need to be watched, lest they take over. Psychologist C.G. Jung and his followers use the term shadow or shadow aspect when describing a part of the unconscious mind that consists of repressed weaknesses, shortcomings, instincts and the irrational. According to Jung: "Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual's conscious life, the blacker and denser it is." So next time you look behind, see how dark your shadow really is.
