I saw flocks of ducks and geese being reared for Foie Gras and also witnessed the gavage. Whilst I agree that it is force feeding, with the corn being funnelled directly to the stomach, the birds free-ranged with loads of space to roam and generally seemed pretty happy. Contrast that with our £2.00 table chickens reared in big barns never getting to see the sunlight, but being kept in artificial light for extended hours encouraging the birds to feed longer and fatten for the table quicker.
