Spain has just received the first of many tanker shipments of fresh drinking water. Drought is becoming a global concern. If this is not a sign that global warming is a serious issue then I don't know what is.

I dont think that cypriots or gov will take it seriouly untill it hits them in the pocket, they are to busy selling houses mostley with swimming pools which all have to be filled, maintained ie back washed taking about 2 tonne of water every week, the biggest loss of water is evaporation that has to be topped up from the tap. swimming pools do not require drinking water desal is ok with a tanker top up delivery system we could all pay the extra for the privilage of having a pool,my next project is a tank to catch rainwater for the garden & a tank to backwash my pool into & then reuse using a filter,Im retired but there must be a good buisness there for someone/any comments ? tony

My husband and I have for the past 4 years had a holiday home here in Chlorakas. We have noticed the decline in the water tables at variuos reservoirs around the island. We both can not believe that still so many poeple waste water by leaving on their irrigation systems and wash down paths and roads. I know its nice to have dust free areas, but surely not at the cost of such a sparce commodity. There are ways and means of watering plants by using bath/shower and washing up water, which we do. I also beleive that more could be done to recycle other goods such as bottles and paper.
