March 31, 2008

Obviously, the owner of a Florida wildlife preserve is drinking that kool-aid: she says she can’t wait to get discharged from the hospital and see the cheetahs that attacked her.

Pregnant Man an April Fool’s Day Gag?
March 31, 2008
The news broke last week– a man in the United States was pregnant, and had passed his story on to the press, before leaving on holiday to go to Hawaii. He seemed sincere–using the moment to discuss gay rights– but the Daily Mirror is asking if this is all a hoax.

Do You Really Want To Trust Scientists To Tell You Why Flirting Doesn’t Work?
March 31, 2008
In light of this item from the Daily Mail, telling us that the female flirt is doomed by the male mind, I ask you, isn’t this a bit like consulting a zookeeper about why your car has broken down?

Gray Wolf Repopulation So Successful It’s Time To Kill Them
March 30, 2008
The decision was made Friday to lift the Federal Endangered Species Act protections offered to Gray Wolves in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, deferring control of the 1,500 animals to the states.

The wolves are, I imagine, pretty thrilled to have enough of their population to not need the protection–I can imagine how cranky I would be if there were only 750 women in the

I’m a historian by education, and wrote my thesis on the cultural icons of the Olympic Games, so you can imagine I’m watching the developing situation with Beijing closely….
