Is Nike Influencing Environmental Art?
Recycling and reusing unwanted household objects and products is becoming more popular among environmentally-savvy artists. This latest offering is part of a Nike exhibition – as the label-conscious may have guessed – entitled ‘5 Icons, 5 Remixers’. Dunk sculpture pictured here was created for the gallery area in Nike’s new Berlin outlet by local artist, Sarah Illenberger

Stones in French Forest Hide Spacecraft
In an attempt to reflect the notion of transparency, French artist Michel de Broin looked to the woods. Finding a large stone deep in the forest of Vosges in France he decided to fix fragments of mirror to the unruly contours, which in turn reflected the natural habitat while completely hiding the stone. The effects of the reflections present an altogether ethereal habitat or resemble what those of us who watch way too many Sci-fi movies would describe as a hidden space craft.

Giant Poo Goes On Rampage in Swiss Capital
Entitled ‘Complex Shit’, the sculpture by American artist Paul McCarthy worked loose of its bindings at the Paul Klee Centre in Berne. The piece of art had an inbuilt safety device meant to kick in at such times but if failed to operate. Instead the great big poo was lifted by a sudden gust of wind and carried over 200 yards before getting intertwined in the power lines.

Pre War Underwater Aquarium Plans, 1936
For centuries we humans have held a morbid fascination of sharks. They’re elusive, intriguing and terrifying all at the same time. We’re enamoured by them. So it’s no surprise that this image has been unearthed for plans of a huge submarine shark observatory, from Science and Mechanics Magazine. Check out their design; it offers much more freedom to roam than today’s aquarium enclosures.

Sensational Smoke Art
If you've ever been the proud owner of a mini-chemistry set as a child (or adult!), you'll love the idea behind Dark Roasted Blend's article on smoke art. Some of the images are totally amazing. While some of the images are obviously and admittedly Photoshopped, others are completely natural emanating gentle swirling, curling white clouds that form unique and original works of art.

If you’ve ever seen the underbelly of a surfer lying on their board they make fantastic fish fodder but if a surfer gets bitten there’s a massive furore and a witch hunt for the toothy perpetrator. But some surfers know that the odds of getting mistaken for a tasty treat come with the territory. If you choose to spend hours in the ocean – home to all things sharky – chances are you might come face to face, or rather leg to jaw, with one of the finned creatures.

Man Buried Alive in Stampede Wakes Up in Morgue…
Nineteen-year-old Mange Ram from India was knocked unconscious on a pilgrimage by stampeding devotees on the way to the Naina Devi shrine in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh. WTF? Wednesday: Toilet Trees
If you were asked to describe an eco-toilet, a few examples would probably spring to mind – a long-drop à la Survivor style, a portable festival loo or one of those not-so-private street plastic urinals, not the hollowed out heart of tree. Well, it seems that now you can relieve yourself, quite legally, in the middle this ancient arborous, although the distinct lack of door may put some people off. Depends how much you like to be at one with nature.
