$22 Million Creation Musuem Expanding, Focusing On Kids

The Creation Museum, an international abomination laying just a few miles from the Cincinnati-Northern KentuckyAirport, is only one year old, but it's already had enough success that it's planning to expand over the next year. Ken Ham, who founded "Answers in Genesis," the fundamentalist religious organization that established the museum, said that the focus would be largely on making it more "kid-friendly" with a series of kiosks throughout the museum, and an outdoor playground

The creation museum, which is an outpost of "young earth" creationists, seeks to establish proof that the earth is less than 10,000 years old, and that science to the contrary is the deceptive work of the devil. Among the more controversial claims made at the state-of-the-art facility are that Adam and Eve's children were given an exemption from being susceptible to incest by God, and that dinosaurs lived peacefully with humans until the flood of Noah. The latter claim is displayed in especially ludicrous fashion-- velociraptors munch calmly on stalks of ferns as human children play behind them, and triceratops is featured with a saddle blanket and mount for a rider.

The museum has been the subject of criticism for obvious reasons, and from a multitude of scientific and cultural sources, but continues to be wildly popular among evangelical Christians--over 400,000 have visited in the last year.

You believed Darwin's theories so easily which have been proven false time and time again. Yet you won't believe that God created the earth. Just saying he doesn't exist doesn't make it so. Talking about close minded. I would say that most Christians thought along the lines as the blinded people in this blog. They were open-minded enough to accept. Call us evil if you like, but to accept evil is to accept believe in a higher power. Hopefully that is the first step for some of you.

This type of crap makes me loose more and more faith in humanity. Seriously religous zealots like this need to be shot! If they are going to take genesis literally than are they going to take the rest of the bible literally...for example I can sell my sister as a slave or even murder my wife for disobeying me. It's crap like this that is making America a religous based society that will soon turn to violence just like radical Muslims. God this makes me sick

I believe the phrase "science to the contrary is the deceptive work of the devil" was your own creation. Makes them out to be witch doctors when in fact they are taking what they believe in (The Bible) and struggling to fit exactly what it says into the world they live. Perhaps they are wrong, perhaps you are mistaken in your views. None of us know for sure. Stop being such closed-minded robots.

I hate to admit that I come from Kentucky. I have to say that the fundamentalism that is behind this is akin to to the same fundamentalism that stones women who have been raped. At the core is a mindset where absolute belief and compartmentalization of thinking is easier than rationalization. Not bad or stupid people, just people who find it easier to get through life with absolute adherence to a belief. Right or wrong doesn't really enter into it. "It's not what you believe but how well you believe..."

I was dragged there by my parents last year, and I have to say it was really amazing. I was blown away by the level of professionalism and depth of their displays. I expected something more cartoonish, despite the aforementioned dinosaurs, it maintained a level of scientific respectability. I’m not sure I can agree with them but their arguments are well polished and very interesting. Have you actually seen it yet?
Don't be deceived, Mike. The displays at DisneyWorld are even better but their quality has no bearing on the reality of elves, fairies, and talking mice.

I weep inside when I hear both how much was spent to build this pyramid of fail and how much the fundies are spending there. So much for Christian values about helping the poor and all, considering how much good they could have done with that money instead of using it to brainwash another generation.
