You bet your ass they are. Well…that’s according to US NGO, the Environmental Working Group. The group has published research, revealing that 478 cosmetic products sold in the US contain doses of toxic chemicals which are unsafe, even when used as directed on the bottle! These would simply not be allowed in Canada, Japan or the EU.
23,000 beauty products were tested and 751 failed to meet one or more US government safety standard. Large quantities of formaldehyde, selenium, hydrogen peroxide and lead acetate were found.
Environmental Graffiti has discovered this week, that the Environmental Working Group has been banned from a US Food and Drugs administration meeting, discussing the international trade of cosmetics. Coincidence? The FDA, unsurprisingly say so – they want an ‘industry association-regulator dialogue.’
Richard Wiles Executive Director of NGO however, is not a happy bunny. According to the Ecologist magazine:
He has written to the FDA saying that his group and others qualify as ‘interested parties’ and ‘other stakeholders’ which should have been consulted. Wiles claims that the FDA has gone against its own guidelines in excluding non-profits groups from the meeting.
Janet Nudelman, coordinaor of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, described the action as ‘an outrage’.

Did you know that when you are pregnant with a baby boy, the first three months of your pregnancy are extremely vital for your boy’s future fertility? I am sure that you did not know this.
Researchers from Edinburgh University have managed to show results that are quite alarming. When you are pregnant with a male fetus and you use cosmetics, certain chemicals in the cosmetics can cause infertility in your son after he becomes mature adult. Sadly many of us use the cosmetics with these chemicals quite regularly without realizing that we will be instrumental in our sons having fertility problems.
This research has again brought up the debate of using natural and herbal cosmetics to the forefront. After all, our skin is the largest organ in our body and it tends to absorb anything put on it. The cosmetics you use will contain ingredients that will be absorbed by the skin and will be fed to the fetus by way of your blood stream. Some of these ingredients are responsible for blocking hormones. In addition, scientists also found via their research that many of these chemicals could increase the risk of a baby boy developing other problems related to the reproductive system.
If you are planning to get pregnant, it is of utmost importance that you change your lifestyle and avoid using cosmetics and perfumes that contain chemicals. You will be putting your baby boy at risk while he is growing in your uterus. The other thing is that if these cosmetics are harmful for your baby boy, imagine the effects they can have on you?

Although this does not surprise me, it is terrible! We should be able to trust the products that we our using..we need to eliminate those harsh ones and replace those products that are gently and safe!

The US cosmetics are very attractive colored products. But I think that these are not safety products, too. All woman need safety cosmetics because put skin directly everyday.
If RED comes from Tomato or Carrot, I will use the US products.
If GREEN comes from leaf like Aroe, I do.
If Lemon fregrance from Lemon Balm, I do.
For woman skin need natural products, I think.
