Treehugger.com, began in 2004 as an environmental blog and grew to include forums, green lifestyle guides and web 2.0 projects such as hugg. The site is extremely popular and is ranked well within the top 20 blogs according to Technorati and receives over 1.4 million unique visitors per month. It is so popular in fact, that Discovery Communications acquired the site for $10 million.

Treehugger.com sold for a cool 10 million. by environmental graffiti a UK based blog.

Graham Hill, Treehugger’s founder said in in a post that the sale of the site “will allow TreeHugger to go much further and faster than it would have been able to alone or with another partner… by teaming up with Discovery, we believe we can more effectively play a critical role in [our environmental] mission”

TreeHugger.com will complement and indeed become part of Discovery’s Planet Green initiative – a site dedicated to all things green and ecological.
