Brian Gordon is a Canadian Green Party member and candidate trained by Al Gore to present An Inconvenient Truth.

Coming to that realization motivated me to become a Canadian Green Party candidate…

Our democracy has been hijacked by special interests, primarily corporate, but others have far too much influence, too. In fact, many groups with an agenda now don’t bother to try and persuade ‘the people’ to support their cause, but instead go straight to the politicians to get their values forced on the rest of us.

Al Gore echoes this thought in a talk on Ted that is well worth watching. He argues that the climate crisis is more advanced than we believe, and the key to action is political will. I also agree that the climate crisis is farther along that most believe. The signs are all there; things are happening much more quickly than the scientists expect. The Arctic Ice is a prime example: once expected to last at least a hundred years at our current rates of CO2 pollution, that number is down to possibly less than five years.

In Mr. Gore’s view, the climate crisis is not a burden, but an opportunity. It is our chance to show the best we are made of, to raise global consciousness, to show that our generation has what it takes to do what needs to be done.

Do we? I think so, or I wouldn’t be a candidate.

I was a climate change sceptic - but an honest one, so I investigated the facts and opinions on either side of this whole 'global warming' thing. I discovered that on one side are facts, and on the other, opinions. I decided to go with the facts.
