the reality is that there's no one to use these weapons agains. since the collapse of USSR the West should focus it's 'military' afforts in other areas. infrastructure development, economic development, transparent governments.

anything else and you're breeding povery, and consequently terrorism. cold war attitude only benefits military contractors and US elites.

I've never seen an F-35 takeoff from carrier where the aircraft is backwards! That's astonishing technology.

Good article. The 'truth' hurts, but not as bas as burning bridges with partners and potentials who understand 'real' problems still exist. If the US is serious about 5th Gen.fighter they need to go back to the drawling board. Cut their hug losses and not sell any F-35s. Trying to fix the F-35..now after the fact will cost more with less chance of a good or "usable" outcome. Start over and do a "lessons learned." The contractors know "exactly" what the pit falls were/are and tip toed passed them government blessings, employing "patch/fix" mentality That IS the problem!

No more taxpayers billions wasted, please. US and its ally have enough weapons to kill or render defenseless 'most' of their 'perceived' enemies that doesn't requrie any new or more advanced or sophisticated military weapons other then what they have, against these so-called enemies, that don't even have a [defensive] early warning defense system. Most recent enemies of US and ally, Iraq, no air [plane/ground defense to confront 'preemptive' 'Shock and Awl',Iran, 28 year old plane parts, homemade make parts,etc..Gaza, no planes, tanks, food water or med on any regular basis since 2006-2009 [militarily forced systematic starvation, 89% malnutrition], have homemade rockets,[no laser guided US bombs,as the attackers use], Lebanon, no air force, or any thing on the ground to defend their soverign territory bombed at will relentlessly..Syria, bombed, under false pretext, who does not want a dog fight using their old aircraft, that they usually send up to force out the usual invader from their sovereign airspace..the list goes on... US F-15,16,18 and F-22 [which they both have fleets of and are more than capable of killing and/or mutilating as many as preceived enemies as the F-35!

that was a terrific (in that it hurts so bad sense) article, thanks for putting that together. it is pretty cool how the 1st world manages to keep on doing the same old bull-pucky thinking, just ever on a grander scale. i guess i can only hope that it collapses under its own weight (as it is sorta doing right now in a sense) but manages to not screw things up so badly in the process that we're all just gulag residents in the end.
