Business/Politics

This extremely interesting video exposes the truth behind our jewelry. Much like the film “Blood Diamond” the cost of mining gold (like diamonds), is at the expense of the people and the environment. Agriculture in the valley, is dependent on a single water source - a glacial lake, which will inevitably be contaminated by cyanide; one of the principal products of gold mining. Extracting the precious metal at such an altitude, high up in the mountains, is definitely a tricky process. What is more worrying however, is the relations between the mining firm and the locals. Will this lead to an environmental disaster?
