Agriculture in the valley, is dependent on a single water source – a glacial lake, which will inevitably be contaminated by cyanide; one of the principal products of gold mining. Extracting the precious metal at such an altitude, high up in the mountains, is definitely a tricky process. What is more worrying however, is the relations between the mining firm and the locals.
