Gordon Brown announced that Britain will raise its emission reduction goals to reach a 60% cut in CO2 emissions by 2050.
Brown challenged the US to raise its own fight against climate change. Britain announced a renewed commitment to its efforts in the fight against climate change leading up to the Bali conferences that will result in a replacement of the Kyoto protocols.
Brown said: “A post-2012 agreement must meet the scale of the challenge, with global emissions peaking no later than 10 to 15 years’ time and reduced by at least 50 per cent by 2050.” Brown will give a crucial speech later this week on climate change.
