If the information in the following article is correct, the nuclear industry will use a significant portion of the energy they generate just in dealing with waste (or they may do it on the cheap, and not deal with it properly at all...):

This also commits the human race to using energy to store nuclear waste for hundreds of years -- energy people may not have in the future....</description>
