Goat Arrested for Attempted Car Theft

An attempted robbery and car theft in Nigeria has led to the citizen’s arrest of a goat by one of the country’s vigilante groups. The vigilante group in the Anifowose Ipata/Oloje areas of the state capital chased two armed robbery suspects and thought they were close to capturing them after thwarting their attempts to steal a Mazda car as a getaway vehicle.

The 15 Million Year-Old Lake

Life forms from 15 million years ago may still be present on Earth if the discovery of a new lake 4km below the surface of the ice in east Antarctica is as fruitful as scientists believe it to be. Scientists believe that the water inside Lake Vostok could contain new lifeforms and possibly shed light on other planets.

A Man’s Home is His Castle

The old saying goes, ‘A man’s home is his castle’ but when Jim Bishop started building a meager stone cottage in the Colorado mountains in 1969 he had no idea how true this would turn out to be. Using stone from the adjacent national park (with a permit, of course), his attempts at building a stone cottage soon had passers-by commenting on its likeness to a castle.

“Meat After Meat Joy” brings together the work of contemporary artists who use meat in their work. That’s right, meat - raw meat, the concept of meat, its symbolism and viscera. In their work the artists are seeking to show the paradoxical nature and symbolism of meat, seeking to show the viewer of their pieces how meat is the essence of our bodies but outside of that context holds no identity and how it also symbolic of the death that follows life, following on from what the exhibition’s curator Heide Harty calls one of the ‘seminal seminal works of sixties happening and performance art,’ Carolee Schneeman's Meat Joy performance.
